Dorothy Caldwell (CAN) – Make Your Mark
11-14 October 2012 | Workshop 4 days
All art begins with making a mark. In this workshop you will be guided through a series of mark making exercises with an emphasis on the stitch as a mark.
Using stitching as a basis, we will move on to drawn and painted marks and more unconventional marks such as burning, piercing, and mending.
Through these exercises you will examine pattern, scale, and gesture, and how the process of building one mark to the next evolves into richly activated surfaces.
Simple bookbinding techniques will be demonstrated and expanding on the workshop exercises with your own materials and imagery you will be able to construct your personal book of marks.
