Time and Space for Your Creativity
WHY?
Learn new techniques: with every technique you master, translating your ideas into a piece of art becomes more interesting.
Find your own artistic voice: it enables you to create personal and unique artwork.
Meet fellow fiber artists and quilters from different countries, language areas and cultures in a leisurely atmosphere and get support and feedback.
Enjoy the beautiful scenery and get back to your everyday life inspired and energized.
WHAT IS IT?
Usually four two-day creative seminars. Two or more seminars can be combined and the stay at the hotel can be prolonged.
There is a lot to see and to do in our beautiful area! -> Ticino Tourism -> Lugano Tourism.
Milan is just an hour away from Lugano (by train), so think of maybe shopping in Milan … or spending a day in Como (although I cannot guarantee that you will be meeting George Clooney at Lake Como…). However, the seminars can be booked without hotel accommodation.
Creative work can be a lonely pastime, and when I finally break away I need to commune with others of like mind. This is where TexArtAcademy workshops are invaluable.
Here the participants learn new techniques and approaches to their art and craft with experts in their field. But most of all, as I have attended for many years, I get a chance to meet and catch up with many old friends in a happy and vigorous atmosphere. Everyone is so generous in sharing materials, ideas and learning.
Joining the workshops has become the annual highlight of my end-of-smmer activities.
~ JEANNE IVALDI, Cannero Riviera/Italy & London/UK
WHEN?
Every year in October. Occasionally additional seminars can be put on during the year. To keep up to date, check this page and my blog regularly and sign up for Inside Information (> right sidebar, upper corner).

Working with Marlis to present two classes suited to her engaged, energetic and artistically infused student-artists was a dream come true.
I am astounded by Marlis’s professionalism as an organizer, the diverse class offerings she presents, the beauty of the host facility and the fantastic food. All of this while enjoying the ability to make friends, laugh and learn.
Do not hesitate to take a class at TexArtAcademy, you will feel invigorated and accomplished in doing so!

WHO?
Tutors: internationally known and recognized textile artists who love to share their know-how (like Dorothy Caldwell, Dijanne Cevaal, Jette Clover, Linda Colsh, Ruth Issett, Cherilyn Martin, Sandra Meech, Alicia Merrett, Melanie Testa, Els van Baarle – and many more).
Students: Textile artists, patchworkers, quilters and all those who love experimenting with textiles and new materials.
Creative seminars boost your creativity. The tutor explains new techniques and gives the input. This enables you to develop your own projects and to find your own voice. The number of participants is low (different for each seminar, depends on the subject and the tutor). This allows the tutor to spend more time with each student.
I’m excited by the incredible international mix of students (Switzerland, France, Germany, Italy, England…). Due to the geographical close proximity to Italy and the common language (the official language in Ticino is Italian), many Italians take classes at TexArtAcademy. We thought this could maybe cause linguistic problems, but now we can see that exactly this is an advantage: students and tutors from the northern countries like the great linguistic variety and the “italianità” – the cheerful Italian way of life. As a bonus you can improve your knowledge of a foreign language.
Tutors and students have their meals together, they get to know each other, they make friends and look always forward to meeting again in Ticino!
The class I attended was the product of an incredible collaboration between the tutor (Linda Colsh) and the organiser (Marlis Egger). The class ran like clockwork on the back of so much detailed planning and preparation.
The venue was excellent – both as overnight accommodation and studio facillities. The local area is outstandingly beautiful.
Most importantly for me, everyone who attended was willing to invest as much as they could into making their best work and offering constructive support to other students.
